Electric lighting loads comprise almost 20% of the world's energy demands according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). This generation, our generation, has the unique opportunity to substantially change that demand due to the advent of LED lighting. LED lighting specifications require 10-20% of the energy of incandescent sources.  LED can last 10 to 20 times as long. They emit no ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR) light. They also do not require the use of many of the hazardous material typically found in fluorescent tube phosphors, some ballasts and many other traditional lighting components.

Many LED lighting solutions have a pay back time of as little as 1-2 years.  Not bad for a system that could last as much as 15 to 20 years!

It is tempting to let the numbers be the program, but the real proof is in the product.  The quality of the light must be beautiful, pleasing, and functional in every way. New LED lighting products are being introduced continuously.  LED fixtures and lamps are becoming better, brighter and less expensive everyday, as the industry develops and standardizes this new building material. Navigating all of the specification options, from color quality to controls, is the key to a successful LED lighting installation.
